How would AWS certifications help me out?

I’m 24 years old and graduated college 2 years ago with a bachelors degree in Interactive Digital Studies, which I’m starting to regret quite a bit. Out of college, I’ve had a few sales jobs and I’ve come to realize that I hate having to rely on convincing people to earn my money, and would rather do something more IT related.

So now, I just got a contract job as an IT Analyst at a large company and I’ve been looking into getting AWS certifications as I’ve seen they are quite in demand and pay quite well.

My issue is, if there was a path I would take with it, I would want to become a developer most likely, but I have no professional experience with that outside of classes I’ve taken in college. I was however an IT Help Desk worker from 2014-16 during a couple years of college which helped me land my current job, so I could possibly look at other certifications that could justify a better job with more experience.

So basically, I would like to know if it would be a good idea to pursue getting certifications despite my limited experience and if I could find a way to land a job with them. Or would I just be wasting my time getting them?

I am under this contract for 10 months, so in December I could be renewed, or I could be looking for a new job, which I would prefer a much higher paying job if I could get one. Would certifications help me get one by then?
