So I’ve been speaking with a former boss about returning to my old company. I left in October after a year and a half. After I resigned they did offer me the chance to work remote in order to keep me. My job was 100% computer and phone based and I worked 90% bymyself with limited team interaction, so working from home shouldn’t be that big of a change from working in a cubicle.
I spoke with my old boss again today and she said they only had to run a background check on me and I could be rehired.She told me about potential start dates and that I would get a raise. I asked her about the possibility of working remote or if I would be required to come to the office to work.
She said that they were anticipating me coming back to the office to work for at least a little bit and then we could work out the details of working remote. She was aware at the time I left the job that I had an hour and a half commute and I reminded her of this when we started talking. She is also aware that due to family issues I’m not in a postion to relocate closer to work. I told her again that I would really prefer to work from home due to the commute and that while I could commit to doing the commute for a certain time (like 1-2 months) I would want to work remote ASAP.
I really didn’t care about getting a raise so long as I could work from home. My former boss told me she would discuss remote work options with HR. She also let it slip that it’s really busy in the office right now as theyre working with HR for several other people, so idk if their doing similar negotiations. This is also the time they’re doing reviews, raises, bonuses, etc.
Could I offer To work 2-3 day’s in the office and work the remainder at home. Apparently they’ve had a major supervisor quit and they recently hired 2 new people so they’re understaffed. I just don’t get why it would be so different for me to work from home when I already know how to do the job.
