I have a phone interview tomorrow for my first ever “adult” job. I’m really excited but also really anxious.

I’m 19 and have only ever worked 4 other food service and retail jobs. When it came to the interviews at those jobs I wasn’t so nervous because I was already pretty qualified for them because of my experience at the others, but this job is for an insurance company and is a legit office job. I’m also just anxious about talking on the phone in general.

I sent in my resume and I didn’t lie at all on any part of it but I’m still nervous that I’m not gonna be able to know what to say if they ask me about parts of it (why I left specific jobs, questions about myself and my education, etc). I just noted that one of the job qualifications was “1 year experience with data entry/typing” and I mean I guess I technically entered data into POS systems at all my jobs which add up to more than a year but does that even count? I wasn’t typing, I was tapping things on a screen. Idk. I’m just overly nervous and overanalytical of myself maybe.

I really want (and need) this job, and I’m really hoping I get it. The training for it starts in February. The job’s schedule options are really good for me too. My mom actually used to work for this same company in the 90’s-2000’s until the whole economy crash thing in 2008. Our family friend actually still works there, and I put her as a reference.

Another thing is, I didn’t see the email about the phone interview until 6pm today. And they were wanting to do the phone interview today. Is that gonna make me look bad? I’ve been checking my email frequently but still didn’t see their email until 6pm (I had to deal with some stuff at my current job and some family things; my stepdad had to get spinal injections and my mom’s car had to be fixed by my grandpa). I of course emailed them back as soon as I saw the email and answered all the pre interview questions they had for me.

Any advice for phone interviews would be reeeally appreciated cus I’m super nervous.
