How to switch fields when current job does not have any similar 'skills' that relates to x jobs that i am applying to in the future? Clueless 23 year old, newish to the real world. [full details in text]
Hey everyone, just a little bit about me
I graduated from a 4 year public university a little over a year ago with a BS in biology. Thanks to a family friend, i was able to get a clinical/sales job (field is science related). However, this is a very very niche job, only a few thousand people probably do this job in the USA alone, only 'skill' that might carry over from this job to any general job would be people/sales skills. There will be a time where i will get tired of this field and I will eventually start to look for a new job, doesnt even have to be related to what i am doing, will be fine with switching fields completely.
I understand that experience is very important to companies/employers but in my scenario, are most companies okay with hiring someone with job experience that is not directly related to the next job if lets say i am trying to switch fields completely? I understand that a lot of companies nowadays want a minumum of a bachelors degree (which I have) but what if the first job i landed out of college does not relate to x jobs that i am applying to in the future? Am i screwed? Can i only get future jobs that directly coorelate with the job i currently have? I am sort of new to the real world, looking for more information in regards to how most companies run.
Thanks to anyone for any advice i can get! thanks!!
