So for context, I work for a European Software company. We are decent in size, over 200 employees. Our US Office is about a half dozen people. My direct supervisor happens to also be the CFO and one of the 2 founders of the company. They expanded into the US Market in 2017 hiring me and one other person.
My boss comes into the US 10 times a year. He always takes us out for drinks and dinner each time. I've invited him alongside my COO and my team to house for dinner. It's a really good group!
Well I invited him to a celebration of my birthday/finishing my masters degree (which the company paid for). He graciously accepted and was humbled to be included. It's amazing the personal and professional relationship that we have.
It's amazing how down to earth he always has been. Even when I interviewed he made it seem like he was a nobody. But in fact oversees about 80 people across 3 countries and is in charge of anything financial related as well.
He's also very direct and transparent. It's the nature of the country he's from. When something is up he does not try to be nice. He's firm and direct but not rude.
Anyway, rant over, just very blessed with this opportunity I took 18 months ago!
