Walked out from job and moved..:Got a job offer 2 weeks later. Should I be worried about the background check?
Here’s my situation: I was working as a Junior Accountant at a manufacturing company. A new temp came to take over my old duties..my supervisor started to act differently towards me after that and I found out along the way that they knew each other outside of work. Needless to say, the environment became toxic. A month ago, I was promised a raise by my supervisor and she said I was a team player for my review.
About 2 weeks later after that said promise, I had a surprise meeting with HR and my supervisor to put me on PIP. I considered giving 2 weeks notice, but my supervisor was two faced. I ended up walking out before I even got the papers for PIP. I knew I couldn’t look at my supervisor the same. I vomited before going into work. I learned after I left that the HR manager got fired and the temp became permanent. About a week later after walking out, I moved to a bigger city for more opportunities. I was offered an opportunity immediately after I interviewed with a company.
I signed the offer letter and the background check authorization. I’m worried they might call my old employer and they’ll say I’m not rehireable, since I left without notice. However, I wasn’t asked to give any references or phone numbers. I was given a start date of this Monday, and I haven’t heard them say not to come in or regarding my background check. I don’t know what I should do if it is brought up. The background check is though ADP.
