Hey everyone. Maybe some of you can help ease my mind...
A month ago I accepted a job at a really nice doctors office. Of course, like most jobs, there is a probationary period (90 days.) I'm so incredibly scared I wont make it past 90 days.
I consider myself very fortunate to have gotten this job & I'm doing everything I can to keep it. After all, the pay is decent & I really like my team. Later on last year I made a HUGE career change. I gained experience at a much smaller doctors office before moving on to this new, larger office which also happens to be VERY fast pace. My first office never saw more than 15 patients a day... My new office sees an average of 70... Some days its roughly 100. I was so happy when I got this job because I didn't think I had enough experience for it. The interviewing process took about a full month. Out of a large number of applicants, they chose me.
About a week ago I started doing the majority of my job on my own without the person who had been training me in the beginning. (I guess they felt I was ready?) I'm catching on to this new office very quickly & have even been told so by my team. But the thing is... I'm having a really hard time adjusting to how fast pace this office is & I'm ending up staying very late most nights trying to catch up on data entry/paperwork. And on top of that, here & there I miss little things.
My team nicely corrects me when I make mistakes & SO FAR nobody has pulled me aside to give me a warning. But again, I'm worried that the fact that I'm struggling with the pace & making mistakes here & there will eventually frustrate my team & cost me my job. I know I've only been here a month... But I think they have high expectations of me.
I have already voiced my concern to my co worker about my pace. They've said it will take some time... But that's really as much feedback as I get.
Who else has struggled in a new environment? How did it turn out for you & what did you do to get yourself through it?
