“Let’s do coffee next week”

I thought an interview I had today over Zoom went well until the end when I asked about next steps, or a timeline for hiring for this position.

The response I got was “let’s do coffee or something next week, maybe Mon/Tue.”

On the surface, you’d think that sounds great, but after being ghosted so many times, I pretty much take that as the “let’s do lunch” ...you know, the lunch that never happens.

I’m trying to stay optimistic, but this is rough. It’s the role I want at higher pay than I’d hoped for, and they actually contacted me. First interview I’ve landed since Feb. I was excited, but no one likes being blown off in the end.

If by some miracle I do hear back, I’ll definitely post that I was wrong and hopefully give others hope, but if I don’t post a follow up by next Wednesday (15th,) you’ll know what happened.
