I'm working for a non profit agency as a case manager specializing in pregnant women with substance use issues. I started there around a year ago and I'm beginning to have some issues, but I'm unsure if they warrant looking for a new position.
-
I have an undergraduate degree, but am unable to pursue a masters at this point. Because of this, I'm not given the same training opportunities as my coworkers in similar job positions. I'm routinely told that the agency needs to "invest" in masters level individuals.
-
In my position, to provide education and information that is relevant and appropriate for my position, I would need to take a $500 training class. I cannot afford this, and my agency will not assist me in paying for it, and it cripples my ability to be effective.
-
The grant that funds my position expires in October. I have no information on whether I will have a job after that point. Only assurances that they will "try" to give me another position if mine is eliminated.
-
I am told that it is impossible for me to be considered a "professional" because I don't have a masters degree. I am doing the same job as coworkers with a masters degree.
-
I am the only person in my program, and am expected to grow and expand the program while carrying a full caseload of clients and being told I shouldnt attend networking/conference events because I'm not "leadership", but am then told about all the individuals attending these events that I should make contact with.
-
I submit screenings and information for approval from my supervisors, and dont get feedback for months.
Are these petty concerns? Or is it time for me to start looking elsewhere? The benefits are good, but the pay isn't great.
