So after just over a month of looking, one of my teachers asked me if I was just trying to find some work to get some income going. When I said I was, she told me if I was interested in working in a restaurant environment she could put in a good word with a place she worked at through college and was now good friends with the owner. This evening I received a phone call and I now I have an interview tomorrow. I’ve only ever been to one interview that landed me a job at Subway, but it was a casual interview and I dressed as such (per the recommendations of Glassdoor and Indeed reviews). I have no idea how I should dress for a local family restaurant so hopefully some of you Redditors have experience with similar establishments and can give me some help.
Some background on the restaurant, it was founded in 1957 and has been kept within the family since. It’s a Mexican cuisine restaurant, in a politically conservative area. As for me, I applied for hostess and busser (I’m far too clumsy to be a server). I have a generally alternative appearance, because of facial piercings and unnaturally red hair. I’m thinking black slacks, dressy shoes, and plain blouse. Except I own none of those things. I have some black pants (jeans, leggings), one plain royal blue long sleeve shirt, and some nice sandals that might pass for dressy. I also have a black and floral dress that might do. Hopefully with some feedback I’ll have time to decide if I need to ask my parents for some cash to run to the store and procure the proper interview attire. I would ask my teacher, but I basically have to head to the interview right after school tomorrow.
