Hey all.
I'm resigning from my job as I've been offered a much better position at the same company, but in a completely different department and different building where I have several great professional contacts. I feel nothing but immense excitement and relief that I'll now be working with a great team, and I cannot wait to get out of my current environment and away from the soul-sucking toxicity of this laughable excuse for a workplace.
I could write a novel on how much dysfunction, HR investigations, and general shittiness I've seen over my 4 years there, but now I'm just focused on getting out and finally breathing some fresh air. I was an IT support analyst for 2 departments at a company.
I'm hoping to get some help on how to write a resignation announcement (audience: coworkers and clients in these depts) from this job that I didn't particularly like. A couple of people were good, including a hilarious coworker on my team who was really the only reason I stayed as long as I did, but the majority of people were really, really bad. Normally I would just say "F everyone" but I owe it to the good folks (sigh...and bad) to let them know that I will no longer be their IT contact and that they need to route their requests to the helpdesk from now on. But as far as saying anything else, it feels incredibly awkward. I don't want to write how much I'll miss it, or how wonderful it was, because nothing could be more untrue.
Is there anything wrong with sending out an email telling the departments what position I've accepted in the other building, what their next steps are as far as where to get IT support and the appropriate contact information/who handles what now, then wrapping it up with a "let me know if there's any loose ends you'd like to tie up before (my last day). Thank you!" and leaving it at that? Whatever I seem to write out, it never comes across the right way, and even though I don't want to say how much I'll miss it or how great people were, it just seems like it lacks something. But, then again, I could be overthinking it too and a second set of eyes would be great.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
