Do I really have negotiating power?

Lets say three new graduates fresh out of school apply for 3 of the same position (3 separate positions) and have the same exact skillset in a competitive field (requires a specific degree/certifications)

They are asked the preferred salary question:

-Candidate A says the industry average

-Candidate B says the bare minimum to play it safe (so 1-2k lower)

-Candidate C says an outrageously high number that is plausible but not for someone entry level in the job

Lets assume the company gave all three of them jobs. Does that mean 3 candidates with the EXACT same skillset can get a range difference of 1000-5000$ more annually? What is the point of recruiters to do this? In the end, will the company just give them the same salary anyway?

Im wondering this myself as a new graduate with no idea my leverage in negotiating. My field has levels and salary data is very skewed from what I've been told and I don't want to get lowballed, but I don't want to look like an idiot and possibly get an offer rescinded if I put out a ridiculous number.
