Hey y'all. I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Not a bad one, just challenging. So I work at a library. It's a great job, but I've been shelving books for a while and want a change of scenery. I recently applied for a new position within the same library system and I first got an interview from my current department. I just interviewed and it went great, but they said they are looking to start the new hires on a Sunday. I panicked a bit and said that would be fine, here's the catch- Ordinarily this would be fine but yesterday I got a call from a different department (same building) for an interview (same pay, different duties and honestly, a better job for me) and accepted, but it's on the Monday after I'd start the other job. Now I'm stuck. What are my options here? What would you do? My ideas right now are: Go along as normal with the position in my current department but keep the Monday interview and if all goes well, accept the position and apologize to my current supervisors for leaving the department so soon after moving up. Take the interview but turn down the position for the different department if offered. Cancel the interview entirely (last resort, because the people from the different department seem hopeful to hire me and I really really want that job) yikes!
