How to deal with colleagues when you seem to be the only one not willing to do work in your "off time"
I recently started a new position staffing for a politician. I really wanted this job and was so happy I got it... until now. It seems that everyone I work with works 24/7. They leave the office and will continue to send emails, (ive received work related emails as late at 11:30). I recently had a colleague who went on vacation. Vacation =no work, right? WRONG! She starts calling me and sending me emails WHILE SHE IS ON VACATION. I asked her why she is doing work on vacation and she told me, "I just cant help myself." WTF.
Im not willing to do all of this so when i leave the office i ignore anything work related. However, Im worried that im going to start looking like a non team player because this behavior is so normalized in the office.
What can I do? I almost want to go back to retail because at least when i was off the clock i got to relax.
