Tips for getting an entry level retail job if you have a college degree (that could hurt your chances)?

What's the best way, if at all any, to tell employers that you're going to:

- Try to keep the job for as long as possible

- Are not trying to upscale them for something else

- Will take the job seriously

- Not be a jerk/snob to other coworkers

I called one of the stores I applied to, and they said that they'll only call after they see the assessment results and the application, which is different for each company. So there currently doesn't seem to be a reliable way for me to meet the hiring manager in-person to help set a positive impression.

I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance!
