I just received a call from my area that I swear was automated despite sounding very authentic. Like, the guy sounded real but over time his answers didn’t match my questions.
-phone rings-
Me: Hello this is Heelturn.
Caller: Hi there I’m reaching out to get some information about a job application we received from you. Would you mind taking a minute to answer few questions?
Me: Yea that sounds great. I’m sorry I didn’t catch which company you were with.
Caller: I can’t divulge information on which school you applied to at the moment but wanted to take a moment to ask you a few questions to determine if you’re a good fit.
Me: So you’re with a school?
Caller: We’d like get some more information and see if any of our positions are a good fit for you.
Me: If you received my application can you at least tell me which position it is for?
Caller: That’s correct.
Me: I’m sorry. You said I applied to a school. Which school are you referring to?
Caller: I understand.
-pause-
-I hang up-
It felt like the episode from Rick and Morty where Jerry is in a simulated world and everyone just gives him canned answers. I was half expecting him to say “MY MAN.”
