I hear a bunch of people on here say they find jobs through LinkedIn and the like, so I thought of going down that avenue since I'm desperate and will do anything that might get me enough money to buy food in a few weeks. The problem with that, from what I see, is that for LinkedIn to work well, you need a fair amount of contacts.
A while ago I did a purge of my Facebook so now I only have around 20 or so friends, and of those 20 I only interact with maybe 6 on a regular basis. LinkedIn suggests you should have 30 contacts for your network...and I have four. Two are former classmates, and two are recruiters who added me when I started working with a temp.
Should I even bother using this? I don't know 30 people and I don't want to know 30 people. I despise social networking (and networking in general) and generally like to keep to myself and not have to deal with this kind of stuff. Aside from that, I also really hate the idea of trying to introduce myself to people only if they can help get me a job and not because I actually care about what they have to say.
