I received an email telling me to contact someone for this a legitimate company via google hangouts. I had this google hangouts "interview" and I did my research on the company and person interviewing me and it appears legitimate, the company is real and the person seems legitimate. Yet they gave me the old "the position will be remote for a few weeks and we will send you a check" in order to purchase software. They also discussed benefits and all of that and said they will send an offer letter, I9 form and all of that to me via email. Does this sound like a scam? There was a lot of questions on the interview that did seem pertinent to if I were to actually work there, not just the old "name, date where to ship the check, we're going to pay you $150 an hour 5 hours a week" that would immediately send out a red flag. What should I do in this case? The pay seemed reasonable and the person went into depth about the job is why I'm unsure if it is a scam or not.
