I'll try to keep this as short as possible:
Current status:
34 years old, turning 35 in April. MA Geography - I studied Water markets. I've been working as a research analyst (for the University I went to), planning, and a one year stint as a business analyst. My current position is a term position that will end in August. It is HIGHLY unlikely that this position will get extended as this department is in the middle of funding cuts.
I have been applying for jobs related to my experience and skills for a few months in anticipation of August. I received one written interview, and didn't get the job. I'm beginning to become anxious as August really isn't that far away, and I have nothing lined up.
I've thought of doing a complete career 180, but at 35 I naturally have reservations. Therefore, in order to prepare for potential unemployment in September, I applied to a couple GIS programs in my country which are very reputable. I got accepted.
I'm worried about a few things:
1) How bad it will look on a resume to show I went for an Advanced Diploma after I received a Master's degree.
2) That the field I'm in (Geography) will lack jobs anyways, which may make that $20k investment a waste of time.
I'm really scrambling to brain storm what to do here. Is it too late to just jump into something else? What kind of trades would take on a 35 year old? What do you people recommend? I feel like I'm drowning here.
