Every now and then I come across someone's suggestion to someone else to attend Toastmaster meetings in order to improve your soft skills for work.
I haven't seen or heard anyone at any of my jobs talk about attending Toastmasters. If there was a place to mention it maybe LinkedIn, but I haven't seen it come up there either with anyone I know.
So this leads to the question, do average people need Toastmasters? Does the average employee need it? If they don't, then is it for the people that are socially inept? Is this a glorified aspergers meeting (and I don't mean that flippantly, really I want to know what kind of people attend it)? I have only heard it mentioned on the internet which leads me to think that most people get by well enough socially without it.
