[Negotiations] Company wants to hire me but HR wrote my salary requirements down wrong & found that the position’s salary range is lower than my actual req- how willing would the company be to meet my salary reqs?
TL;DR in the title
So about a month ago, I interviewed for a project management role for a financial software company, four phone interviews, all went swimmingly well and the hiring manager really liked me.
I didn’t hear a word from HR or the company for the last 3 weeks so I figured they didn’t want me. Alright, life goes on.
Yesterday afternoon, I received an email from a different HR representative than who I originally was talking with when I applied for the job.
Just spoke to the new HR rep moments ago, turns out that the company DOES want to hire me & give me an offer but the original HR rep is no longer with the company and did not leave sufficient information about me and my job/salary requirements. Here’s what I did find out:
-original HR rep wrote down my salary requirement as $65k + bonus. This is false. The Truth: I told him & the hiring manager $74-76k but willing to negotiate
-Original HR rep failed to tell me that the salary range for this job role is $55-65k, I currently make more than that today.
The new HR rep was irritated that I wasn’t privy to this information and didn’t realize that the HR rep didn’t make proper notes.
So I told her I am willing to negotiate if need be, but truly- How willing are companies to meet my salary requirements?
It’s taken them nearly 3-4 weeks to get back to me (likely because the original HR rep was gone) and they’re essentially scrambling to get their things together.
What are the chances that they would willing to take me up on my salary requirement or at least negotiate up to a good middle for both parties?
