So I did a lot of researching and it seems the hardest part is finding an employer to hire you. It seems that unless you know a friend or family member in the industry you’re trying to get into, its extremely difficult.
I wanted to do electrician but it seems highly competitive. I was going to do a pre apprenticeship at the PAT institute but I saw a lot of bad reviews regarding it.
So my question is, if my first step is to find an employer to take me on, where should I start? Do I just go around to construction sites asking for work (like a lot were suggesting) or are there any sites where I can apply online since it’s over -30 degree Celsius in Toronto and I rather not be outside atm.
It doesn’t have to be limited to electrician either. Any decent paying trade (by decent I mean at least 50-60k) would work. Maybe ones that are less competitive and easier to get my foot into the door. I had a couple friends who were getting their Gas fitter license a couple years ago but I haven’t spoken to them since.
