Hurt my wrist and it's affecting work, would temp. disability be reasonable?

Long story short: is this the type of thing I can get temp. disability for?

I fell and hurt my hand on the ground a few days ago. Doctor diagnosed it as a likely minor sprain and I should have it immobilized for the next two weeks. It doesn't even hurt when I'm not gripping and holding things. Would be no big deal if my job didn't involve me using my hands so much. I'm gripping and holding all the time at work. It's a basic front desk job with lots of writing and typing and hole-punching. My hand hurts when I do these things and I feel like I'm just making the injury last longer and not heal. I'm going way slower at work now because I'm using my non-dominant hand. I don't think there is a way to ask to just not do these things at work for a while, because I'm the only one at the front desk and these things have to be done. Would it be reasonable to ask for temp. disability time for a minor sprain?
