How do you not get discouraged while job hunting?

Excuse me if there are typos or for my poor format. I’m on mobile, and just getting back for a job interview that was a waste of time so I’m a little frustrated.

I graduated from college last year in June. I’ve been job hunting since then with very little success. I’ve had interviews that I’ve thought have gone well and didn’t get the job. None of my friends that graduated either with me or before me have a job in their field. It feels hopeless.

I’ve been working retail for over four years, and it’s so difficult to get out of it. I’ve held different management positions, including assistant store manager. And all the job offers I get are for more sales. I got my degree in science. Im not sure how to get experience in my field without a job first. I’m feeling down on my luck and that my degree was a waste of time.

I guess my question is, how do you all not get discouraged while job hunting? And how long did it take you to get your dream job? Or even your first job after college?
