How do I market myself for “lower skill jobs” when I have higher-level skills and experience?

I’m trying to go for associate jobs at places like Home Depot now, and management trainee programs at like car/truck rental and dealership companies.

Except on my LinkedIn summary, I state I’m interested in emerging technologies, and that I’m currently learning programming. I also have sales experience from a startup tech company which is on there and my resume. I don’t know how to reconcile this for when I apply for the “lower skill” jobs I mentioned above.

Not sure how the recruiters would view me. I suspect I’m not getting a lot of call-backs for admin jobs too for this reason, maybe they view me as overqualified. I dunno. I’ve tried tailoring my resume for the jobs I apply to but I feel my LinkedIn gives it away.

I do want to come across as a techy sort of person, but at the end of the day I’ll take what I can get and don’t want to put off recruiters.
