First time job, have I already lost the chance?

I was interviewed in for a position at a milk tea place some weeks ago. A friend of someone close to me recommended to try this out, so I gave it a shot. After all was done and me being a complete nervous wreck, the employer talked about how I didn't smile enough and looked too old for my young age because of the way I dressed (ouchyikeshaha), basically isn't presentable enough. I know first impressions are always important, so I really kicked myself for messing up such basic job interview skills. But the employer is a nice person, so with all the miracles I had, he said to start training for the position soon and we'll see then.

He said he'll give me a call next week, so I waited. No calls, so I called instead. Said that he's currently busy with someone else training, schedule and all. He runs a few stores, so it makes sense that he's busy. He said he'll give me a call when things are ready. (There are two locations of the milk tea place I'm signing up for.)

My question is, is what my anxiety telling me right? Have I already lost the chance because someone else is training? If not, how much days or weeks should I give to wait for the call back? How should I go with hunting for a new job while waiting for his reply without seeming rude to him? I feel pretty restless, and my anxiety problem is eating me.
