Coworker wants to use me as basis for her raise - need advice

I hope this is the right sub where I can ask these questions, but if it is not, any direction is appreciated.

A coworker of mine were chatting recently and she discussed her frustration with her management team (we work for the same large company in the same role, but for different organizations within the company.) She had recently requested a raise since, as a result of organizational changes in her area, she has a larger workload to manage. Her management team came back with the response that they cannot give her a raise because "she has not been on this new team long enough", but this is only a result of her team moving within the org; she did not leave the team, so this felt like a very weak argument. In reality, she has been in this role for almost 2 years. In my opinion, she works very hard, and being forced into accepting a new manager should not be viewed as being "in a new team".

In our discussion, she mentioned that she believed her salary to be too low, at $XXk/year. I told her that she is right, because I make more than that (roughly 7k more), and that this is likely an unfortunate result of the gender gap. She thanked me for my honesty and confirming her suspicions. (We have the same job title but work in different orgs.)

The next day, she called me because she wanted to bring this situation up to HR. A personal friend of hers told her that if I am willing, I could be used as a reference point to support her efforts in getting a raise, because our backgrounds are very similar, and that our only real difference is our genders. Naturally, I am a bit uncomfortable, but her friend told her that I would be protected under the National Labor Relations Act and that I would not be in any jeopardy of repercussions.

I am hoping to get some advice on this matter. Is there a way that she can raise her issue to HR without invoking my name directly? In addition, what is the best way that she can present this argument? I do want to help, as I think this is unfair and she is a good friend, but I also want to ensure that I'm not a casualty of her efforts.

Some background information: Both of us have the same job title and perform very similar work. She is slightly older than I (within 3 years) and we are the same race. We both previously worked in the same org within the company and left to join other groups (she before I). Our overall tenure with the company is relatively similar (roughly 4 years, she slightly longer than I). I am a bit more tech-savvy than she.

Thanks for reading and for your advice.
