Hi, I need some advice. Please just friendly advice. I'm not looking to be called names.
I started a new job back in September 2017. I am working part-time so that I can take classes online and finish my degree. As per the interview, the position I have is a temporary job (1-2 years). I agreed with that time frame because I should be able to graduate by then. I don't plan on staying at this company afterwards.
After four months, I'm still really struggling at this job. The "training" is virtually non-existent and the company is constantly trying to make me work different and extra hours. The inconsistency is really impacting my ability to maintain a schedule.
I agreed (as per my offer letter) 4 hours per day, 5 days a week. I get my healthcare through the marketplace - so if I work more hours, I need to report it because it will impact the credit I get toward my premiums. I'm especially afraid of owing at the end of the year and I know they don't care.
Also, I get a lot of last minute calls asking, "Can you come in now?" or the other morning administrator calls out because it snows. Which means I have an hour to shovel my car out and then travel to work through the crappy weather because my coworker doesn't want to.
Part of me feels guilty for sticking to my guns and part of me feels like this company wants me to make a blood oath to them and sell my soul. Am I wrong for wanting to stick to the original agreement?
