Not for me but my father. He’s been at this new job for about six months and got blindsided today when they fired him. He said that management kept telling him that his values didn’t align with the company. My father, who has more values and work ethic than the pope. Now the one negative thing that he can think of is that this past Saturday there was an ordering problem issue at the plant (he was a project manager). He did not have his phone on him when the problem occurred and checked his phone about two hours after the fact, immediately started calling people making sure it was fixed etc. Hes gone in on Saturday’s before, no one asked him to come in on this Saturday. Knowing my dad I highly doubt there’s anything more happening. He’s one of those classic hard working blue blooded guys, had a total of five jobs in his life, never been fired. His last company shut down and he landed here.
My question: I think he should email to try to get more clarification on what they mean. Not to argue or beg for the job back but if he did something wrong, and no one addressed it with him, he needs to know to accurately and truthfully apply for other positions and address the question in interviews. He, understandably, is devastated and can’t bring himself to talk about it anymore. Thoughts? Should he email? Not email?
