I applied for a job and they called me back requesting an interview today. The caller asked me what I expected them to pay me, and I gave them a low number. I still haven't gotten to my interview yet, but did I already mess up my chances of negotiating by doing this? How should I bring up my pay again during the interview? I want to try to get a higher price for my labor than what I told them on the phone. The lady that will be interviewing me is not the person I talked to on the phone either and lives in a different area. When I told her my price she asked me if that is normal for the area, so I'm thinking I'll still have room to sell myself for a higher price than what I said since my interviewer may not know what I told the phone caller and nothing is in writing.
