If you are really curious or want to be super helpful, I can send you my resume. Otherwise, I'm in the film industry, where unpaid internships are the flavor of the week (or the month, or the past generation). I'm applying to jobs all the time and do regularly work on film sets, and I've got a bunch of internship experience on my resume.
I just completed interviews for internships four fairly large networks/companies in Los Angeles, where I live. I was invited for video interviews with all of them, but since haven't heard anything. These are all paid internships, which are notoriously hard to get. I was supposed to hear at the beginning of this week and it's been radio silence. I don't at all believe I'm going to be offered any of these jobs, even though I think I interviewed very well, knew a lot about the positions at each company, and presented myself as somebody who has their shit together. My resume looks great, my cover letter looks good, I have a good personality and have learned to "turn it on" when I interview.
So, with all of this, why am I not getting any offers? It's honestly confusing to me. I know I messed up one interview, and don't expect to hear back at all about that one specifically. Which is fine. But the others were great. If I was objectively looking at them, I'd say they went very well. Is it my fault that I'm not getting hired, or is it just how the workplace functions?
