Have no idea when I’m starting my new job and I was invited to a Christmas vacation, not sure what to do.

Hi /r/jobs! So, i’m in a bit of a weird spot. I applied to a company back in August, landed an in interview in mid-October and got the job a few days later. Here I am in late December and I have still yet to start work.

I’ve had to jump through many hoops and attend various physicals, doctors and pass many tests over the past month, even though the plan was for me to start in early Dec. They mentioned I have to go to another doctor tomorrow to get receive a vaccination so I can start on time but they haven’t given me an estimated start date or week, despite me asking yesterday.

My problem is now I’ve been invited to go on a vacation with some of my family next week until New Year’s Day but I’m debating on going since I have no idea when they’re going to drop this start date on me.

I’m wondering if it would be appropriate to ask if if this were to be okay or just play it safe and stay home?
