Company Policies: Charity Involvement

Does anyone else feel weird about this?

My job runs this company wide charity campaign, where every month or so, there's a new initiative for the employees to get involved with the community. I work in sales. I've also seen this initiative in retail, back when I was in college working at Victoria's Secret...my thing is, shouldn't the CEO, and you know members of the board who are actually making money, be the one's obligated to do charity? Not the employees who for the most part, make far less??
