I'm leaving my current company (non-profit) and i know i shouldn't care anymore but the branch i work for is small (13 people) and ALMOST everyone is like family. I feel terrible about what is going to happen to my coworkers. Another coworker left and i will be leaving in 3 weeks. Due to both our departures and declining revenue, corporate has decided to restructure the branch and its not gonna be nice.
The issue: we have a new branch manager who seems like she knows what shes doing in terms of running the business part except for the office dynamic. Since the new manager got hired 4 months ago, one of the workers (which everyone hates with a passion!) has some how weaseled her way into being the sole confidant of our boss. In the restructuring, this weasel will now take on the position of officer coordinator/executive assistant (also get a pay increase).
This particular employee is hated because shes been with the company almost 3 years, has bounced around different positions in the company and done a mediocre job at it. I know, because i took on her position when i was hired and she left a giant mess for me to fix. The reasons why everyone hates her are because all she is good at is doing very little and talking about how amazing she is. She doesn't know how to do a lot of thing and will put the work on someone else and then take the credit for it. She also keeps tabs on everyone else (like how long we take their breaks for) and gets involved with everything when its not her place. She particularly likes to find holes in other people's work and put in her minimal amount of work and say she help make it better. She has left me alone because she knew what a shit storm she left for me to fix.
Should I warn my boss about what i think will happen to the office if the weasel is put in charge? That being that she will micromanage the shit out of everyone, bringing morale down (and revenue) and everyone will quit and then face a phase of revolving employee and instability because shes making the work environment toxic.
