Should I quit?

I started working at a small nonprofit 4 months ago. The org is going through huge transitions right now. I’m the first employee they’ve been able to bring on other than the director. They also have a working board. But it’s just the director (my boss/supervisor) and I in the office. His personality is tense and aggressive. His presence puts me on edge. He always blows off our meetings. He gets frustrated at my work, but also doesn’t give me any direction or support. I’m learning that many folks in the larger community have issues with him and the org. Additionally, the org doesn’t have a cohesive mission. So the work often feels well-intentioned, but ineffective.

My question- is it reasonable to quit? This is my first real job out of college. I was so excited to find meaningful work with a well-paying nonprofit. But this environment is awful.

I have an interview lined up for another local nonprofit, but it pays $6 less an hour, has funky hours, and requires much more work. Although, perhaps more meaningful work. I don’t know. I’m young and naive!!!

Any input is appreciated.
