Okay I'm going to try to keep this short..
About 1 month back I applied for company XYZ, who I applied to a few years back, so needless to say they have me on file. About a week after that I get a call back from a familiar corporate recruiter who I had worked with in the past and he was jumping at the opportunity to get me some interviews since they had a lot of openings for what I was looking for. So he put me in touch with the HR of one of the sites and they have a conference call interview with me (it was HR and hiring manager on the line). I think I did an okay job with that but I haven't heard back from them since so I'm thinking they either don't like me or they are keeping me on hold.
Rewind back to when I was talking to that corporate recruiter... A contract recruiter put up a job notice for a position with an "anonymous" company for a job position I'm looking for. I say heck it and apply. A few days later I get a call from her and she asks me a few phone screening questions and likes me enough to move forward with me. A week after that phone conversation, she calls me and says the site is really excited and wants to get me onsite for a day for interviews and a tour. I ask her what the company is and she says "XYZ". Literally the exact same company, just a different site. I say sure why not and one thing leads to another and I go onsite and have my interview. Everything goes super well and they even say they want to give me an offer the next day, they even go to the extent where they asked for my previous salary and added a little more to it in their "informal offer" (as my contract recruiter called it). Everybody is happy, I think things are looking good. Wrong.
The next week they are "working on a formal offer" but they run into difficulties with corporate. They have me take a 3.5 hour long pre-employment test which had a bunch of behavioral questions and a section on IQ/math testing. I completed this last Thursday. I get a call from my contract recruiter this morning saying they pulled the offer for this position and that they (corporate) are seemingly pissed with the fact that the new-hire HR person who was handling me with this site had even given me an offer and that they didn't know about my contract recruiter. They didn't contact me at all, and they didn't give me any rejection whatsoever.. Apparently my contract recruiter never stated I had applied in the system with the company before and there was a bunch of issues with me already "moving along in the process with another location" (the location that literally ghosted me). I found all of this out literally today.
I don't understand. Why are they pulling a perfectly reasonable offer even if it wasn't a hiring process through corporate recruiting? They whole situation seems sketchy and I told my contact recruiter that I would call the corporate recruiter to figure something out come Monday. Is there something I'm missing here?
