I just became a trainer through NASM and started my new job in a very pricey gym. I’ve got great coworkers and while I haven’t gotten clients yet (been there a week LOL) I’m a bit disappointed at their version of “shortened” holiday hours.
We all have to work at least one holiday shift. The problem is finding which one I’m willing to work and IF I’ll even get my first choice. The gym isn’t even closed on Christmas Day which is NOT something I’ve ever experienced before. Every other gym I’ve been in closed on Christmas.
To make it worse, they’re open until 7 on Christmas Eve And 5 on Christmas. They close at 2 on Thanksgiving which I find fair. That’s enough time to still go join family. But I find 7pm and even 5pm to be pretty late. I celebrate both days because my parents are divorced and I am worried I’m going to get stuck missing a celebration.
They’re also open until 7pm on new year’s Eve. Not the end of the world as I can still go out and hang with friends, but I am worried I’m gonna get the opening shift on new year’s day.
Idk, I’m having a tough time with knowing I want this career but don’t want to work holidays, and I can’t really have it both ways. Even once I have a full time schedule of clients, odds are they will want to work out on a holiday.
