A few months ago, I applied online for a graphic design position at a boutique chain that I LOVE whose headquarters happen to be down the street from where I live. They didn't respond, so I dropped off my resume about a week later and got the email address for someone that has a hand in recruiting. I never heard a response, but I got a new job and moved on. About two weeks ago, I found out that the company is hiring for the same position again, so I sent what was basically a cover letter to that email address. I got a response asking me to send my resume about a week and a half later (two days ago), so I responded saying that I would drop off another resume first thing Monday morning. I love this company and I really want to be a part of it. I want a chance to emphasis my enthusiasm, love of the company, and eagerness to be what they need me to be. I was thinking about writing a short note with some references on it as well. Is that a good idea? And if so, what should I say?
