I'm not sure if this is the right flair, but I couldn't find a better one.
So I'm part time at a company. We just had a ton of people leave though and so now we're stretched pretty thin. I applied for a full time position with the company a while back and my boss basically told me that they're going to offer the job to me as far as he knew. We're just waiting on HR to move their feet. But I know there was another finalist who has experience doing the stuff for the full-time job too.
I think it would be much more beneficial to the company and to the employees' workloads/mental health if we hired the other person. My reasoning is 40 hours of one full other person is going to be worth more than an extra 10 from me. Though it's not a guarantee they wouldn't actually lose some of my hours because I would have new, external duties if I were full time.
But a full time salary and benefits would be pretty great for me too.
So my dilemma is this: should I tell my boss to offer the job to the other candidate first? Then, if they don't take it, take it? Should I not tell him that and just take the job if they offer it to me? Should I not tell him and turn down the job if they offer it to me, citing above reasons?
Any advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated. I'll need to tell him sooner rather than later if I do tell him to offer to the other candidate.
