Does following up make an impact on your job application? Should I follow up?

I got done with the interview last month. Two weeks ago before Thanksgiving break I got an email that said:

"We apologize for a delayed response due to the availability of resource staff.

We would like to advance you to the next step of our selection process for blah blah position.

We will be reaching out to you after the Thanksgiving holiday week."

It's been a week after thanksgiving and nothing. If I wait until the end of this week, it'll be one week left before Christmas break.

Should I follow up Friday/next Monday or just leave it be?
