Can I message a recruiter on LinkedIn after sending a job application via email? Should I request for an interview or will that be rude?

Hello, thank you for taking the time out to read this.

I saw this job post that I am incredibly interested in and in an industry that I have been so excited about since my college days. I applied for the job via email as per their instructions.

Should I contact the recruiter on LinkedIn, considering I sent the application a couple of days ago? I just want to stand out from the rest. Should I request for an interview or ask about the role in a round-about way? I'm wondering if asking for an interview would be too pushy.
