I had a screening phone interview the other day for an educational specialist job. This initiative is government funded and they are basically relatively new with this specific program, so when the manager emailing with me had a typo in her signature line, I chalked it up to maybe having English as a second language (given the nature of the position itself and based on her last name.) It said Manger, instead of manager. It irked me since that's her title, but I moved forward with the call.
On the call, it was fine enough, she couldnt answer some of my questions, but the off-putting part is I swear as we're chatting about the role, she yawned...twice.
Following that, she sent me a follow up email with some typos, and also thanked me for working around her interruptions, which was weird because there weren't any at all? And I wondered if it was a generic email she sent to me, copy and pasted from a previous candidate.
Finally, she asked me to do another interview Friday with the rest of the team and asked me to fill out an application online before then. I already submitted a cover letter, references, and my resume. Why do I need to now fill out all of this information through their online form when I'm already being given a second interview? This one isn't a red flag, as much as it's frustrating and seems redundant.
It all comes off as unprofessional and I'm wondering if I should decline to 2nd interview and not waste my time or if I should ignore these signs and assume it's maybe one person (however, the one person I'd be working directly under...)
