New processes have resulted in boss micromanaging me, tips for staying cool while I look for a new job?
As the post states, my company has had a bit of turnover in the senior management department. Some new processes have been put in place where I literally can not do my day to day tasks without management approval, whereas before I could do what I needed to and then let management know after. To go from having a bit of say to these hand cuffs is brutal.
The other thing I am struggling with is my boss has no idea how anything I do works (he lacks formal education whereas I am about to complete my second diploma and have 9 years of experience in this field) and he constantly questions why I am doing things a certain way. He was given the department I am in as an addition and they threw 10K his way and he accepted the role not realizing he was out of his depth (which he actively admits).
At first I thought he was asking me all these questions because he wanted to learn but it’s becoming apparent he’s just being nit-picky. Once I explain to him why it is the way it is, he backs down. It’s exhausting; I was okay doing this job for 3 years but now all of a sudden everything I do is questioned, dismissed and rebuked.
I am actively looking for a new job but I find myself getting short and annoyed with my boss. In hindsight he is my boss and he can ask me as many questions as he’d like so how do I keep my cool and appease him?
My goal is to be out of here in a month but I really need to figure out how to keep my cool.
