How to write a message to a hiring manager that's not a lie

I'm applying for a job as a technical writer. The company is not exciting or sexy or something I'm interested in.

Their application process involves uploading your resume to their site. Which is fine. The only other thing they request is to include a message for their hiring manager to let the company know "about your interest working here."

I'm qualified for the job. I'm applying because I need money. It's not a passion or anything. I'm not sure what I could put here that's not a lie that would generate the ideal response. Suggestions?
