Getting diagnosed for cancer after accepting job offer.

Two weeks back I received a job offer and I've since tendered with my current company and signed with my new company. I start in Jan.

Yesterday, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. I know I have to tell my new company that I probably can't start in Jan. Can my new company rescind that contract I just signed and not hire me?
