Is my boss making me suck it up, move on, and solve things the "easy" way?

Hey all, here I am with some mild work drama for you all to read on a Monday afternoon.

Today at work, I was speaking to a colleague and a director (we have a few of them) budged into our conversation, extremely rudely. And then he was rude to me. I know what to say anything because 1. I was so shocked since it was early in the morning on a Monday 2. I would just never expect anyone to speak to me that way since I do a lot for my company, I've been here for over 2 years. The colleague (who has been with the company for 15 years) came to me later in the day to apologize to me for not saying anything when the director was being rude towards me. The colleague also went to my boss to tell him what happened, I didn't ask him to speak to my boss. My boss told me that the director will be apologizing to me tomorrow for the way he behaved, he said he's under a lot of stress. Reddit, how should I handle this apology? Should I just take the apology and keep walking, or, do I have a witness there during the apology or what? I told my boss that this director is only apologizing to me because my boss told him to do so, it wasn't his own idea. My boss said nothing. I'm trying to work on myself and make sure I'm receiving the respect I deserve instead of being so passive as I have been all my life. This director has also been rude to other people in other departments but they do not feel safe speaking up. If anyone has questions or need more details to the story, please ask!
