Applied for a county job and was offered step 5 in the salary range. The hiring manager said this is the highest step they could go without special approval.
I’m actually happy with step 5, it was slightly more than what I expected. I guess I’m just conflicted because everyone always says to negotiate. It would be nice to get paid more, that’s always a given.
Do you think it would be a waste of time to negotiate for step 6 or 7?
