There is literally no work in my area and I'm becoming desperate. What can I do? I don't understand why there aren't any openings.

I've been trying to find a job for the longest time but I'm having no success at all. I'm not even trying to get into specific, competitive fields. Entry-level anything would be fine, but I've been looking on Indeed and despite having a decent resume, scoring great marks on a bunch of Indeed assessments, and having absolutely no problem acing interviews, I barely get any replies.

Even the most basic, entry-level jobs require years of experience in said exact position, and/or ridiculous credentials for what they are. I still applied to them as I know often times it's just to weed out the chaff. I applied to two separate temp agencies that ended up stringing me along for nearly a month; both of which calling me every other day to "follow up" but ultimately nothing happening.

I swallowed my pride and looked for local retail/food service jobs but literally every single place I applied to either never followed up, or requires me to be bilingual in mostly two languages I have no grasp on whatsoever. The only call-back I got was from a fast food franchisee who admitted that he was concerned about hiring people my age because in his words, "they're already jaded, put no effort in and don't last".

I used to look on Upwork but that didn't help me out.

I have plenty of applicable skills but no one's willing to hire as I haven't had any jobs that required certain skills. I've called quite a few of these places and I keep getting the "we'll get back to you". My debt is racking up and I seriously need the money. I don't know what I'm going to do.
