I was supposed to have my first interview for a job I was referred to with a recruiter over the phone on Friday at 3pm and less than an hour before, I got an email that she was rescheduling it to Monday at 3pm (today). All it said was “this meeting is being rescheduled to 10/20 at 3pm” I didn’t see it until literally five minutes before I was supposed to be on the call with the recruiter because I was working at my current job and finishing up there before doing the phone interview.
Today at work we had a huge issue and I couldn’t leave work when I planned to and ended up there well past 3pm handling what was going on. I knew I was going to be stuck there, so I emailed the recruiter asking to reschedule about two hours before. They seemed fine with it and we rescheduled no problem, but I just feel weird. Am I making a bad first impression because I had to deal with what was going on at my current job? I didn’t give any specifics as to why I had to reschedule. I just feel funny now having this rescheduled twice. I really want this job and I feel like I am not off to a good start. I also don’t want the person who referred me to find out. He really stuck his neck out for me to get this interview and potentially this job. He asked me why it was rescheduled today and I don’t want to tell him and make him think it was an excuse as to why I didn’t interview.
