i'm so used to never getting replies when sending out resumes, i still have the mentality that i should just send one to any recruiter regardless of whether i actually want the job or not or whether i'd fit in. now that the market is flooded with shit jobs, i get way more replies and maybe should be more selective. i sent a resume out just yesterday to a tech retail store for the temporary position of cashier (great shit job, btw) for the upcoming holidays. the thing is that i have zero interest or knowledge in anything technological. still, my reptile brain told me to apply anyway.
today i got a call from them while i was out. i listed my landline in my contact information because i hardly ever use my cell phone and hate giving out the number. the thing is, when they called today, my mom picked up because i live with my parents. she told them i was out and asked if i could call them back but they weren't willing to give out their number (i guess that makes two of us). they said they'd call back at 5:00 and they didn't.
i'm wondering if maybe my mom answering the phone grossed them out when they realized i lived at home like a poor person or a loser. if that's the case and the attitude at work, i dodged a bullet because i think that's pretty shitty. also i found another job just today that's a way better fit and they actually want me to apply in real life, which might mean they're as low tech as i am.
